Do you focus on the problem or the solution?

Why do you have such an interest in innovation when you are a marketer?

This is a question I am asked often; the answer lies in the great parallels between the two sectors. Currently, the world appears to be full of problems, whether they are political, commercial or pandemic related. These problems present two quite different approaches, we can either: –

a) Focus and dwell on the many problems; or

b) Focus on finding the solution to the problem

Innovators by nature are driven to find solutions, they do not ignore the problem, but they use their energy to focus on finding a solution. This is the parallel with a marketer – we recognize the many challenges in the world of commerce, but we also see the right solutions, and the growing opportunities that prevail at the time. An experienced marketer will help you to identify the relevant commercial problems, and more importantly, they will help you to identify the right solution for your busines, and to subsequently implement that plan to ensure that you overcome the problems.

In life as well as business, it is important that we do not dwell on the prevailing problems, but that we discover the right solutions.
